WorldSkills Occupational Standards

WorldSkills Occupational Standards (WSOS) form the foundation of the marking scheme structure in CIS. These standards define the assessment framework for each skill and should align with the official occupational standards published on the WorldSkills website and in each skill's Technical Documentation.

Overview​

WSOS Interface

The WSOS interface allows you to:

  • View and manage occupational standards sections for each skill
  • Set importance percentages for each section (must total 100%)
  • Add, edit, or remove sections as needed

Recommendation: Import WSOS through the Marking Scheme rather than creating manually. This ensures consistency with the official skill requirements and reduces setup time.

WSOS Structure​

Each WSOS entry contains:

Section Information​

  • Section Number: Sequential numbering (1, 2, 3, etc.)
  • Name: Descriptive title of the occupational standard section
  • Importance (%): Weighting percentage for assessment (must total 100%)

Managing Sections​

Adding a New Section​

  1. Click the "+ Add Section" button at the bottom of the table
  2. Enter the section name and importance percentage
  3. Ensure the total remains 100%

Editing Sections​

  1. Click the Edit button (yellow) next to the section you want to modify
  2. Update the section name or importance percentage
  3. Save your changes

Removing Sections​

  1. Click the Remove button (red) next to the section you want to delete
  2. Confirm the removal
  3. Adjust remaining percentages to total 100%
NOTE: The total importance percentage must always equal 100.00%

Best Practices​

Alignment with Official Standards​

  • Ensure sections match the occupational standards published on WorldSkills.org
  • Reference the skill's Technical Documentation for exact section names
  • Maintain consistency with international competition requirements

Import vs Manual Creation​

Recommended Approach: Import from Marking Scheme

  • Maintains consistency with assessment criteria
  • Reduces manual data entry errors
  • Ensures alignment with competition requirements

Manual Creation: Only when necessary

  • Use for custom or regional variations
