User Groups Management

User Groups Interface

User Groups in CIS define roles, permissions, and access levels for different types of users participating in competitions. The interface allows you to select, create, and configure user groups with specific permission sets.


👥 Default User Groups​

The default user group on first installation are

  • Admin
  • Expert
  • Skill Management Team

You can create additional groups as needed with any label and combination of permissions by simple pressing New and typing a name (label for the group).

🔐 Permission Categories​

System​

System Permissions This section controls core system access rights and administrative capabilities. The only option that should be given to anyone but admins is "Allow PC user interface on mobile device" which allows users to access the CIS on a mobile device using the PC interface. The default mobile interface is not suitable for managements as is very limited in visibility of information and functionality. Permissions include:

Configure core system access rights:

  • Manage Application: Full application management capabilities (Admin only)
  • Edit Config: Modify system configuration settings. Should be (Admin only)
  • Edit Groups: Create and manage user groups (Restricted access)
  • Edit Positions: Configure competition positions (Restricted access)
  • Edit Criterion Identifiers: Set up assessment criteria (Restricted access)
  • View Active Users: Monitor current user sessions (Restricted access)
  • Allow PC user interface on mobile device: Enable mobile access (Safe for most users)

Competition​

Control competition management access:

  • Edit Competition Dates: Modify competition schedule (Restricted access)
  • Edit Members: Manage competition member contries (Restricted access)
  • Import Marking Scheme Data: Load assessment structures (Extended access)
  • Import People Data: Bulk import participants information (Restricted access)
  • Import Member Data: Load member contries data in bulk (Restricted access)
  • Export Marking Scheme Data: Generate assessment exports as .XLSX (Extended access)
  • Export People Data: Export participant information (Restricted access)
  • Export Member Data: Export member ocountries data (Restricted access)
  • Export Results: Export competition results (Extended access)
  • Search People: Access people search functionality (Extended access)
  • Edit People: Modify participant information (Restricted access)
  • Assign People to User Group: Manage access levels (Restricted access)
  • Manage Teams: Configure teams structure (Extended access)
  • Exclude Competitor from Results: Remove a specific participant from results (Extended access)
  • View Audit Events: Access system activity logs (Admin only)

Marking Scheme Permissions​

Configure assessment and marking access:

  • Edit Own Skill Information: Modify assigned skill details (Extended access)
  • Edit All Skills' Information: Access all skills details (Restricted access)
  • Edit Own Marking Scheme: Configure assigned skill marking scheme and criteria (Extended access)
  • Edit All Marking Schemes: Modify **all marking **schemes (Restricted access)
  • Lock Marking Scheme: Loch the marking scheme for marking (Extended access)
  • Update Locked Marking Scheme: Make changes to the locked marking schemes (Extended access)
  • Edit Own Marking Schedule: Set the marking schedule for allocated skill (Extended access)
  • Edit All Marking Schedules: Configure all marking schedules (Restricted access)
  • View Own Marking Forms: Access allocated skill assessment forms (Extended access)
  • View All Marking Forms: Access all skills assesment forms (Restricted access)

Marks Permissions​

Marks Permissions

Control scoring and assessment access:

  • Enter Own Skill's Marks: Input marks for assigned skills. If this is enabled the marker will be able to see all marking criteria for it's own skill, even if is not part of the marking schedule (Extended access)
  • Enter All Skills' Marks: Access marking for all skills (Restricted access)
  • View Invalid Judgement Marks: See flagged marking issues for marks discrepacies (e.g. 1,1,3) (Extended access)
  • Assess Competitors using a tablet: Enable tablet-based marking (can imput marks). This is the only option enabled for WS competitions for experts (Safe for most users)
  • Assess Competitors using a PC: Enable desktop marking interface (can input marks) (Safe for most users)
  • Suspend Marking for Own Skill: Temporarily halt marking for assigned skill (Extended access)
  • Suspend Marking for All Skills: Temporarily halt marking for all skills (Restricted access)
  • Lock All Marks: Lock all skills marks to prevent further changes (Restricted access)
  • Lock Own Marks: Lock marks for assigned skill to prevent further changes (Extended access)
  • Unlock Marks: Unlock marks for assigned skill to allow changes (Extended access)
  • View Own Skill's Marks: Access marks for assigned skill after finalization (Extended access)
  • View Own Skill's Marks when all Marks Locked: Access marks for assigned skill even when all marks are locked (Extended access)
  • View All Skills' Marks: Access marks for all skills after finalization (Restricted access)
  • Delete All Marks (give to Admins only!): Permanently remove all marks from the system (Admin only)

Results Permissions​

Configure results and reporting access:

  • View Reports: Access competition reports and analytics (Restricted access)
  • View Own Skill Reports: Access reports for assigned skill (Extended access)
  • Edit Results: Modify competition results for all skills (Restricted access)
  • View Official Results: Access official competition results (Restricted access)
  • Select Own Best of Nation Award: Select the best of nation award for own country (Extended access)
  • Select Any Member's Best of Nation Award: Select the best of nation award for any country (Restricted access)
  • Create Competitor Result Summary: Generate summary reports for competitors in aalocated skill (Extended access)

⚙️ Managing User Groups​

Creating New User Groups​

  1. Click the "New" button in the User Groups interface
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the new group
  3. Configure permissions by checking appropriate boxes in each category

Ensure you only assign permissions relevant to the group's role. Avoid granting excessive permissions to prevent security risks.No need for saving the group, it will be saved automatically.

Modifying Existing Groups​

  1. Select a group from the "Select a group to edit" dropdown
  2. Review current permissions in each category
  3. Check or uncheck permissions as needed

Deleting User Groups​

  1. Select the group to remove from the dropdown
  2. Click the "Delete" button
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted
Permission Impact

Changes to user group permissions take effect immediately for all users assigned to that group. Test permission changes carefully before applying to production groups.
